Gallaudet Connects

Gallaudet University is truly well known around the world. It’s worldwide reputation is equivalent to the universities that US presidents attend, like Yale, Oxford or Harvard.

Students and alumni should have pride in attending Gallaudet University. It helps in the long run. Whether you are traveling the world or just applying for a job, the name Gallaudet gets your foot in the door. For example, the principal at Ikuno Deaf School in Osaka allowed us to visit because I went to Gallaudet.

Another unique aspect of Gallaudet is the strong social network. I met up with Emilio (who also graduated from Gallaudet) in an apartment in Japan. We truly are leaders in the world. I have met many deaf people from New Zealand, Australia and Japan who dream of attending Gallaudet University. Gallaudet has given us courage, education, pride and ambition to make a difference in the deaf world.

Thank you Gallaudet!

Dave and Christy,

Admiring you from afar and bringing memories of me visiting 50 schools all over USA in 1997. Your post here have provoked me to leave a public comment here because you wrote about how Gallaudet played roles in your/our lives. There is definitely a myraid "Deaf" connection on the planet, mostly but not totally, started by the establishment of Gallaudet in 1864. As an alumna and on behalf of Gally, we thank you for sharing this wonderful message.

Solider on, march on, forge on all over the planet - spread goodwill messages to deaf people everywhere. Tell everyone to celebrate being Deaf. Come back home safely and serve as models other people to do the same.

I (we) sign as you did here, thank you Gallaudet.

Can the same be said for NTID/RIT?

Yeah, part of it, sort of!! However, the most who are alumnus from Gallaudet. They are living in another countries and they are working there. The most Gallaudet alumni that we know each others already through networking. For NTID/CSUN may have too, but we dont know them well. IT would be nice to have them to know if they are coming from another countries, then tell them (Christy and Dan).

Hope JM may understand this.. Gallaudet University have the largest international students who enrollment for a long time. I dont know about NTID and CSUN. ALso International students who are graduated from Gallaudet, they are going back to their countries to help their countries.
