We leave the country tomorrow!

We are on our way! In five days we made it coast to coast from Rochester, New York to Oceanside, California, with a three day stop through Colorado. A special thanks to all who came to our farewell fundraisers in New York and Colorado! You are sending us off full of support, inspiration and excitement!! You have made this moment possible. Today is officially our last day in the USA for a long long time.

After a whirlwind of travel x-country, we are taking a day to relax before our first international flight. We are reading up on New Zealand from our "lonely planet" guide (there are 3.95 million people and 39.2 million sheep!), and practicing our NZ sign language in attempt to not be terribly awkward Americans when we visit the Christchurch Deaf Club on Friday.

We're traveling West...and will keep traveling west for the year until we get back to the USA. Thank you for believing in us! Stay tuned . . .

Why fundraising for your trip to West Coast and New Zeland? You ought to learn how to budget on your own money instead of asking others for money. That's a real shame.

To anonymous...

We have budgeted and poured thousands of dollars of our own money into this project for personal expenses.

Our fundraising is for the international DDW project (that has been in development for 1.5 yrs) to cover expenses for website development, video editing, monthly newsletter, interpreter services, etc to make this project accessible for people like you.

Please visit our website and learn about what this is all about before making a shallow and disrespectful comment such as that.

Individuals and organizations provide financial support because they believe in making connections in international Deaf communities.

You don't need to donate. But you can sign up for our newsletter to keep informed on our progress and raise awareness of international Deaf issues.

Thank you and have a nice day,

Hi David and Christy:
It is hard to believe you are really leaving tomorrow. I will be thinking of you all day (and the next when you arrive.) Sending lots of hugs and love. Love mom j

I'd like to make a suggestion that you make a banner or title that remains on the top of your page that explains what you are doing. This will avoid the ignorant comments like from anonymous above and will make your mission clear.

Other than that, good luck! I look forward to hearing about your trip!

Hi Christy and Dave!

I just got on your website and read about your travel plans. I would like to wish you the best and that your goals will be successful from tomorrow until the day you return to the land of America.
I will be praying for your safe journey.
May God be with you as you go on this exciting journey of DDW.

Cheers,

Hi Christy and Dave,

It was good meeting you in Rochester and wished you the very best for your exciting adventure.

It is indeed worth a visual document where we are able to appreciate your educational video. How exciting!

I would say come on and support their mission! For those who are putting them down about getting donations for the trip, so what? It is for educational purposes and we all should be in together to give this support.

Your banner and description looks great!! Now it's more clear what exactly you are doing.

Good luck and I'll be rooting for you!
